Bengaluru civil court orders interim stay on AIDMK general council meeting

Bengaluru [Karnataka]: A Bengaluru City Civil Court on Monday has stayed the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIDMK) joint general council meeting in Chennai that was scheduled for Tuesday, after Karnataka unit chief V. Pugazhendi approached the court.

The Fifteenth City Civil Court Judge Patil Nagalinganna Gowda will hear the matter next on September 13.

Earlier today, the Madras High Court dismissed a civil suit, filed by Perambur MLA P. Vetrivel, which sought orders to prohibit the AIADMK from conducting meeting on Tuesday.

Dubbing the suit as a vexatious litigation, Justice C.V. Karthikeyan also slapped a fine of Rupees One lakh on the MLA.

The court said that the litigation wasted its time, adding, “Approach Election Commission instead of coming to us, if you do not wish to attend the meeting better stay at home.” (ANI)
