Bengaluru: Thousands participate in “I am Gauri” march against assassination of Gauri Lankesh

Bengaluru: Thousands of people including social activists, journalists, workers of political parties and others participated in a march against the assassination of journalist-activist, Gauri Lankesh.

The protest rally was taken out in Bengaluru on Tuesday. Before taking to streets, protesters gathered at the railway station.

According to the report published in South Live, rally was attended by Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of CPI (M), P. Sainath, senior journalist, Swaraj India leaders, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, Anand Patwardhan and Rakesh Sharma, documentary producers, civil activists Teesta Setalvad, Kavitha Krishnan and Jignesh Mevani, Prakash Rai, film producers and others. Leaders of CPI (ML), Karnataka Janashakthi, Aam Aadmi Party and several student groups also attended the rally.

Protesters took out a rally from the Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station to the Central College grounds. A protest meeting was held at Central College grounds. They were holding black badges that read – #IAmGauri. They were also raising slogans, “Gauri Lankesh Amar Rahe”.

The rally was taken out by the progressive forum ‘Gauri Lankesh Hatya Virodhi Vedike’.

It may be mentioned that Gauri Lankesh was assassinated outside her home by an unidentified man on 5th September. She was the editor of “Gauri Lankesh Patrike”.
