Bihar student gets psychology degree after appearing for English honours exam

Muzaffarpur: When it’s not a big deal for colleges in Bihar to get someone like Ruby Rai top the examination, how can Bihar’s education system be questioned for a petty issue like this one.

A student, Mohammad Tabrez of Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) cleared his BA part-1 examination but not in the subject he studied. Yes indeed! despite being a student of English honours, he got a degree in Psychology.

“I wrote my papers for English honours, with geography and history as subsidiary subjects. But the result shows that I have passed the examination with honours in psychology. Not only this, I have been awarded pass marks even in psychology practicals,” said Tabrez as per a report by Hindustan Times.

For getting the marksheet corrected, Tabrez approached college’s examination wing. However, he did not find a solution.

“They told me that it was the mistake of the university and advised me to seek remedy from the BRABU headquarters at Muzaffarpur, 128 km away,” he said.

Furthermore, according to him, the BRABU employees are not even ready to admit their mistake and claimed that he had filled the examination form incorrectly.

“The admit card, number 104762, issued to me clearly confirms that I had offered English honours, geography and history as subjects,” he said.

A non-teaching employee of the college said that there were disparities in marksheets of 40% of the students.
