Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for clashes between their party workers on Tuesday.
As reported by the Tribune, Former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s son Bilawal said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) planned to hold a ‘Jalsa’ at Hakim Said ground in Pakistan’s east district.
Bilawal said, “To pay tribute to our martyrs, PPP planned to hold a Jalsa at Hakim Said ground in District East as most lives were lost in District East,” adding that the PPP had applied for and received all necessary legal permissions.
He further said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers had hurled stones at PPP workers.
Bilawal accused PTI to arbitrarily change their venue to Hakim Said and set up a camp there, which he termed a “provocative step”.
He further said that the guards of PTI leaders had fired weapons and set their trucks on fire.
More than 20 PPP workers sustained considerable injuries, Bilawal said.
He condemned the attack as he went to say that PTI has fascist tendencies and a complete enquiry must be done to hold culprits accountable.
He further hailed peace at Karachi and asked his party to find another location and allow PTI to use the Hakim Said ground.
Earlier on Tuesday, PTI chief Imran Khan took to his Twitter account to say, “Strongly condemn the attack on PTI workers by PPP at our jalsagah camp in Karachi yesterday. Sindh government must take action against those who used violence against our workers. Strong arm tactics by PPP reflects their fear of PTI’s rising popularity in Sindh.”
On Monday, the Hakim Said ground became witnessed clashes between PIT and PPP workers as both sought control over the location to hold their respective rallies.
Both the parties had planned to hold rallies on May 12.
Meanwhile, the elections are expected to be held in Pakistan in the last week of July or first week of August.
