Binny Bansal quit Flipkart after Walmart’s sexual-misconduct investigation

Bangalore: One of Flipkart’s founder Binny Bansal resigned on Tuesday, November 12, after parent company Walmart investigated sexual misconduct complaints against him.

According to Quartz, Bansal resigned with immediate effect in the wake of a probe into an allegation of personal misconduct. Insiders at Flipkart claim that the complainant had previously taken up the matter with Flipkart leadership but to no avail.

While the complainant left Flipkart before Walmart’s acquisition in May for USD 16 billion, the US-based giant decided on a probe.

Meanwhile, Bansal denied the allegations and said that the investigation did point to certain lapses in judgment, particularly to lack of transparency on how he responded to the situation. He said that in light of the allegations, it was best to step away as chairman and group CEO.
