BJP demands high-level inquiry into Rs.100-crore Delhi ration scam

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday sought Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to institute a high-level inquiry into alleged Rs.100-crore ration scam in Delhi.

BJP MLA Vijender Gupta said the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Delhi has completely collapsed for the lack of effective control and management at the apex level.

He said the poor and needy are not being given wheat, sugar and rice from the ration shop, because these are being siphoned off in black market.

Gupta further alleged that the entire matter is in the knowledge of the Chief Minister and the Food and Civil Supply Minister, but no action is being taken in this connection.

He said the Central Government has released the entire quota of the sugar to the Delhi Government, but more than 52 percent of the total ration allocation is sold in the black market. (ANI)
