BJP faces Ignominious defeat in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has faced an ignominious defeat in the Assembly elections, results of which were announced today. As against five seats held by it in the dissolved Assembly, it could manage to bag only one seat now, despite high voltage campaign conducted by it’s State and National leaders, including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, some Union Ministers and party NationalPresident Amit Shah.
The ruling TRS party has swept the polls, sending shock waves in the Congress, TDP, BJP, TJS and the left parties’ leaders. The opposition parties totally failed to face the TRS and it’s leader K Chandrasekhar Rao. The Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI have forged an alliance with the main objective of defeating the TRS; but they could not achieve it, as the people have given a massive mandate in favour of the TRS.

Analyzing the crushing defeat suffered by the BJP, observers opined that the failures of the party Government at the Centre, the adverse affects of demonetization and the GST, resorted to by the Centre; the misleading statements made by the party’s National leaders on issues like the Telangana Government’s failure to utilize the Central grants; the failure of the Centre in approving the State Government’s proposal for increasing the reservation to Minorities and STs; the Union Government’s moves to weaken statutory bodies like the CBI, RBI, the BJP’s Hindutva agenda are listed as the reasons for the party’s debacle, apart from the number of welfare programmes launched by the TRS Government in the State.

The BJP leaders have also made every effort to create an impression among the people, that everything is well in the BJP- ruled States, while the people are aware of the actual conditions in those states which were under BJP rule for two, three terms. The BJP leaders verbal attack against the Chief Minister KCR and his family members was also not liked by the people, as lakhs of them were beneficiaries of a number of programmes launched by the State Government.
