BJP leader claims to unfurl tricolor at Jama Masjid, video shows something else

NEW DELHI: On 72nd Independence Day, Indians, regardless of their religion participated in the celebration of freedom with great joy, but senior BJP functionary tried to spoil the peaceful atmosphere after he deliberately attempted to enter the historic Jama Masjid to unfurl tricolor to provoke Muslims.

On Wednesday, a BJP leader IP Singh, along with a bunch of his supporters and workers entered the sacred place of worship for Muslims with fierce sloganeering and makes a desperate attempt to hoist the national flag.

Chanting slogans, the mob climbed onto the steps of Jama Masjid but the members of the Muslim community present at the premises acted with prudence and restraint them from doing so.

An eyewitness told Janta Ka Reporter, “The mob arrived at the mosque from Gate 1 soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi finished his independence day speech at the Red Fort, which is situated less than a kilometer away from the historic mosque. They reached the main gate of the mosque and began chanting Narendra Modi zindabad, Atal Bihari Vajpayee zindabad and Bharat Mata ki Jai.”

Later, taking to Twitter, Singh, a former minister in the Uttar Pradesh government claimed to unfurled national flag at the premises of the iconic Jama Masjid despite being stopped. He was also heard in the video saying that they do not need any permission to hoist the national flag at a public place.

“Despite the disruption, we succeeded hoisting the tricolor in the premises of Jama Masjid. The question is; where did the shahi imam disappear? At the moment, we don’t need anyone’s permission to hoist the tricolor. Today I hoisted the flag in Jama Masjid despite attempts to stop me.”
