BJP may get Ram temple built to win next polls, says Mayawati

Lucknow: BSP supremo Mayawati on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing it of pursuing ‘’communal politics,’’ and said that the saffron party could get the Ram temple constructed in Ayodhya to win the next Lok Sabha polls in 2019.

Addressing a public meeting at Azamgarh, about 275 km from here, Mayawati expressed serious concern over ‘’discrimination’’ against the Dalits and threatened to convert to Buddhism, if the caste system continued to prevail in Hindu religion.

‘’The BJP government at the Centre has failed to fulfil the promises made by the saffron party at the time of the elections. It is, therefore, pursuing communal politics and may get the Ram temple constructed in Ayodhya with the objective of winning the 2019 elections,’’ she said.

She alleged that dalits and Muslims were being ‘’persecuted’’ in the BJP regime. Mayawati lashed out at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath for “not paying attention to real issues.”

‘’Adityanath is busy visiting temples. He does not have time to think of development,’’ she said.Chitradurga, Oct 23 (PTI): Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Monday advised the government to focus on providing succour to farmers in distress instead of wasting time by raking up a controversy over celebrating Tipu Jayanthi.

He was speaking to reporters after visiting agriculture fields affected by pests at Bharamasagara in the taluk.

Gowda said he would take up the issue of farmers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The central and state governments should stop blaming each other unnecessarily, the JD(S) supremo said.

Gowda also took a dig at the BJP, which has organised a Parivarthan rally across the state.
