NEW DELHI: BJP MLA Ram Kadam was recently in the line of fire over his “will kidnap girl” comment, tweeted fake death news about Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, currently undergoing treatment for cancer in New York.
Kadam, who is BJP MLA from Mumbai’s Ghatkopar constituency, took social media and posted a tweet condoling the death of the actress.
Kadam tweeted a message in Marathi that translated as “Sonali Bendre, the actress who ruled Hindi and Marathi cinema was to all and is no more.”
Soon after getting brutally roasted for believing a fake news and baseless rumour, he deleted the message and tender an apology. “About Sonali Bendre ji It was rumor. Since last two days.. I pray to God for good health and speedy recovery (sic),” he tweeted.

Earlier this week, Kadam faced a backlash for his statements about kidnapping girls. At a “Dahi Handi” event in Mumbai, he was heard telling the crowd, “You (youngsters) can meet me for any work. I will help, 100 percent. Come (to me) with your parents. What will I do if parents approve? I will kidnap the girl concerned and hand her over to you (for marriage)”.
