Ahmedabad: On Sunday, Poonam Mahajan, BJP MP from Mumbai North claimed that every woman including herself faced sexual harassment.
According to the news published in TOI, Ms. Mahajan revealed this while speaking at Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
She said, “I used to take a train to my classes in Versova from Worli”. She also said that she never felt self-pity when someone looked at her in an unpleasant manner.
She claimed that every woman on this planet faced sexual harassment. She further claimed, “Every Indian woman has had remarks passed about her or has been touched inappropriately”, TOI reports.
Ms. Mahajan, daughter of late BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan said that in politics, men can afford mediocrity but women cannot.
Comparing India with America, she said that the USA has never had a woman President whereas, in India, women became President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Chief Ministers. She further suggests to slap the one who harasses but not to think why he did so.
Talking about the diversity in IIMs, she said that 20% of faculty members are women. Slamming Hindi serials, she said they are destroying the image of women.
