BJP resents banishment of Paripurnananda from city

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Dr K Laxman today condemned police action in banishing Swami Paripurnananda, head of Kakinada Sri Peetham from the city for six months.

Speaking to the media today, Laxman alleged that the ruling party was behind the banishment of Swami Paripurnananda by the police. He questioned as to why the State government did not take action against those who made blasphemous remarks against Lord Rama and Ramayana hurting sentiments of Hindus. He also questioned as to why the State government failed to take similar decision against MIM leaders, who openly made objectionable comments hurting sentiments of Hindus. Demanding that the State government withdraw cases filed against Swami Paripurnananda, the State BJP chief asked the police to re-consider their decision.

Earlier, the city police placed Swami Paripurnananda under house arrest on Monday when he was about to take out Dharmika Chaitanya yatra from Lord Shiva temple in Boduppal to Yadadri in protest against those making sacrilegious remarks against Lord Rama of the epic Ramayana. He also observed that sending Swami Paripurnananda out of the city amounted to banishment of whole Hindu community in the State capital. The city police said they have taken the hard decision to extern Paripoornananda as he made derogatory remarks against other religions in the past. (NSS)
