Is BJP trying to cash in on West Bengal violence? Using Gujarat riots photo BJP leader asks to “Save Bengal”

New Delhi: Nupur Sharma, BJP Spokesperson used an image from 2002 Gujarat communal riots and called for the protest against West Bengal violence at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

On Saturday, Sharma tweeted a photograph from 2002 Gujarat riots in which mob is setting fire to a vehicle. She wrote, “Once the land of peace and glory is today failing on all fronts”.

She also wrote, “It is already too late! Join in at 5 PM today at Jantar Mantar #SaveBengal #SaveHindus”.

However, users of Twitter users quickly identified that the image is of 2002 Gujarat riots and not of West Bengal violence.

It is to be noted that earlier, Vijeta Malik, BJP leader from Haryana shared a movie still to show the ‘plight of Hindus’ in West Bengal. Malik shared a picture of woman getting disrobed in public, a scene from one of Manoj Tiwari’s popular Bhopuri films ‘Aurat khilona nahi’.

Day by day there is an increase in sharing of fake photos of West Bengal violence by BJP leaders. Is BJP trying to cash in on West Bengal violence?
