Damascus: Massive explosions rocked Syria’s Hama military base on Friday, according to Syrian state media.
The cause of the explosions has not been ascertained yet.
Several media reports state that it is highly likely that ammunition storage might have exploded due to a man-made error or the sudden rise of temperature.
Other unconfirmed reports spoke of a missile attack that hit an armoury inside the airbase.
Syrians in Hama reported hearing at least four successive blasts.
Video footage from the scene, posted on social media, showed a huge cloud of smoke rising out of the military airfield.
