Body of Yunus, CBI’s key witness in Unnao gang rape case exhumed

UNNAO: The body of Yunus, a CBI’s key witness in the Unnao gang rape and murder case involving BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who died under mysterious circumstances on August 18, was exhumed for a post-mortem examination.

According to Unnao Additional District Magistrate BN Yadav, the body was exhumed in the presence of Qazi sahab (religious leader) and was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain reason for his death.

Family members claimed Yunus died a natural death as he was undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with cirrhosis of liver. He was buried thereafter on last Saturday and the deceased family members buried his body without the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who is investigating the case, being informed of the same.

The family under no circumstances wanted the Yunus’s corpse exhumed therefore, allegedly attempted immolation to end their lives on Saturday in front of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence but were detained by the police.

32-year-old Yunus was the key witness in the attack on the rape survivor’s father in jail, who was imprisoned by local police after being allegedly framed for possessing illegal firearm.

The rape survivor’s family cried foul behind the sudden death of Yunus and alleged conspiracy by the jailed MLA’s henchmen.

The father of the girl who was allegedly raped by Unnao MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his brother Atul Singh Sengar last year, died in a hospital after allegedly being beaten up in police custody.

Although the police denied reports of custodial death, post-mortem of the victim’s father indicated that he was brought to the hospital with a damaged intestine resulting from a colon rupture. It also highlighted shock and septicemia as the prime cause of death.
