Bring Muslims under (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989: United Muslim Morcha

New Delhi: To free the country from riots politics and to divert the politics of the country towards basic issues, minorities should also be included under (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, under article 341 of the Indian constitution. National president of UMM and former MP Dr Eijaz Ali told this while addressing the ‘Tahaffuz Muashera Conference’ organised by United Muslim Morcha. He said the Morcha is ready to compromise with the centre on the controversial issue such as Ayodhya to get legal security.

National vice president of the Morcha Kamal Ashraf said, so far Dalits, Adivasi and minorities were facing atrocities. But since the (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 came into being, Dalits and Adivasis got relief but minorities have been the soft target during riots and the situation is becoming worse day by day.

Today Muslims need legal security more than the education and basic facilities. Like Dalits and Adivasis minorities also need legal security, for which their inclusion in (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 is the need of the hour.

State president of the Morcha Mehdi Hasan Mansoori said generally Hindus and Muslims do not want to fight, they are made to fight for vote bank politics.
