Budget a ‘big joke’, farmers have been cheated: Raj Babbar

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar on Saturday took a swipe at the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, dubbing the interim Budget as a “big joke” and asserted that farmers have been cheated.

Speaking to reporters here, Babbar said that the scheme to provide Rs 6,000 per annum for farmers, which boils down to Rs 17 per day, is not enough to address their plight.

“The government has imposed high GST in urea and other agricultural equipment. Farmers have been cheated in this budget. This budget is a big joke, there was no mention of unemployment,” he said.
The actor-turned-politician said that the Opposition should stop the BJP at a big level, adding that their juggernaut should be halted in the entire country and not just in 30-40 seats.

Babbar accused the BJP of misusing institutions like CBI and ED for political benefits.

Taking a jibe at the Centre over the Ram temple issue, Babbar said: “They always remember Lord Ram when elections are round the corner. If Ram temple will not be made in Ayodhya, then where else it will be constructed. They always chant Lord Ram for votes. It will not work for them this time.”
