Budget proposals for growth, KCR flays Centre, Congress

Hyderabad: Leader of the House and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today slammed Congress leader D. Sridhar Babu for talking without any knowledge on the budget and its proposals made.

During a debate in the Assembly on the vote-on-account budget, the Chief Minister said the proposals should be seen as qualitative and not quantitative. He also criticized the Opposition Congress for not making constructive suggestions. The Chief Minister said while Congress leader and former minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy made some constructive suggestions, Sridhar Babu was only talking politics. There was no meaning in the remarks that the State failed to get funds from the Centre on developmental programs.

Stating that extra care was being taken in technicalities, he said Telangana State was following FRBM norms and the House has to pass Rs 80200 crore funds. The RBI, being nodal agency, must be cooperative to the State governments to take loans, he suggested.

The Government will take loans as per the norms and not as private firms do and spend them for development programs as per procedures. National Institutions like Power Corporation of India has offered to give Rs 15,000-crore loans within a few days of government formation after the polls, he said. The Centre was also adopting tactics for votes, he charged. He also flayed the Centre for not giving powers to the States and coming in the way of its rights.
