Bulandshahr violence case: Additional SP Raees Akhtar transferred

Bulandshahr: Yogi Government has transferred yet another police personnel after it transferred the Bulandshahr senior superintendent of police (SSP), a circle officer and a chowki in-charge on Saturday. The additional SP Raees Akhtar posted here was transferred to the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) headquarters in Lucknow on Sunday after an intelligence report blamed local police officials for negligence.

Raees Akhtar will be replaced by Manish Mishra who was posted at the police control room in Ghaziabad.

According to government sources, the crackdown on police officials comes after the additional director general (ADG), in his report, blamed the senior cops of the district for not reaching the village on time.

Raees’s transfer is seen as a surprise because according to the informer, Siana area where the violence occurred, is not under the jurisdiction of Raees, Akhtar instead it falls in the area of city ASP Praveen Ranjan Singh.

A mob of some 400 people had a clash with police on December 3. During the violence, Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh who was investigating Akhlaq’s killing and a 20-year-old man died of gunshot wounds.

While the Army jawan Jitendra Malik, who is accused of killing the policeman during the Bulandshahr violence, has been handed over to the UP police the prime accused Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj is still absconding.

Though Army Jawan admitted he was at the spot when the crowd started gathering he denied shooting inspector Subodh Singh.

Yogi Adityanath government has been accused by the Samajwadi Party for shielding the Bajrang Dal leader.
