Campaigning ends in Telugu States, polling on April 11

Hyderabad: The election campaigning ended in two Telugu States on Tuesday as the Election Commission ordered in its schedule for Telangana going for Lok Sabha polls on April 11. While the campaigning came to a halt at 5 pm in Telangana, it ended in AP at 6 pm.

The political parties and leaders have campaigned extensively for the candidates of their parties in the respective segments. While the campaigning ended at 5 pm in all segments, it ended in Nizamabad by 6 pm as 185 candidates are election fray. The EC made arrangements to hold the polling in 17 parliamentary segments.

Except in Nizamabad wherein the polls will be held from 8 am to 6 pm, in other segments the polling will be held from 7 am to 4 pm and in 13 segments with Naxalites effect from 7 am to 4 pm. As many as 443 candidates fighting the polls to be voted by 2,96, 97, 279 people on April 11. In contrast, 185 candidates are fighting the LS polls, including 179 farmers. Only 10 members are fighting the polls in Medak segment.

In Andhra Pradesh, the ruling TDP, Opposition YSRCP campaigned with many road shows and public meetings. There are 2,118 candidates fighting the polls for 175 Assembly seats and 319 for 25 MP seats. The EC has made all arrangements for smooth and peaceful conduct of the polls.
