CBI arrests NDMC tax inspector for accepting bribe

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a tax inspector of New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), Rajeev Chandok for taking a bribe of Rs. 50,000.

NDMC Tax inspector was arrested along with two private individuals for taking the bribe to settle a pending property tax. Property Tax is levied on all lands and buildings in New Delhi.

The rates of taxes are determined by municipal council from year to year basis. The penalty in case of default of taxes is also levied as 20 percent of the amount due in tax.
Further investigation in the case is underway.

Earlier on August 5, the CBI arrested an Intelligence Officer of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Kolkata for accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000.
