CBI saved BJP, RSS accused, framed others in Vyapam: Congress

Bhopal: The Congress on Wednesday accused the CBI of having let off those affiliated to the BJP and RSS who were named in the Vyapam scam, saying the agency “tried to save some and frame some” in its charge sheet.

“The CBI has broken the trust of people as it has given a clean chit to the accused and those who were accused of the murders of witnesses,” Congress’ Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh said in a statement.

Questioning the credibility of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) investigation, Singh said, “Pankaj Trivedi was the controller and director of the PMT entrance exam in 2013. Over Rs one crore was recovered at the time of his arrest. He even spent over two and half years in jail. His name not appearing in charge sheet says a lot.”

“Sudhir Bhadoriya was the controller and director of Vyapam in 2008, 2009 and 2010. During this period around 333 students got selected for MBBS. Their admissions were cancelled by the Supreme Court. The CBI did not question him and neither did it register any case against him,” he said.

Singh’s remarks came a day after the CBI on Tuesday filed a charge sheet against 490 persons in the multi-crore Vyapam examination scam that broke out in Madhya Pradesh in 2013, while giving a clean chit to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Those named in the CBI charge sheet include three Vyapam officials, three racketeers, 17 middlemen, 297 paper solvers and beneficiary candidates and 170 guardians of beneficiary candidates.

The scam in Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam) or Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board broke out in 2013, wherein candidates bribed officials, rigged exams by deploying imposters to write their answer sheets.

The CBI took over the investigation following the Supreme Court order on July 9, 2015.

The Congress leader said that the CBI did not question Mihir Chaudhary, who was personal secretary of former RSS Chief Sudarshan and was appointed as Sub Inspector in the Nap Tol department.

Singh said the CBI did not investigate the Constable recruitment scam despite the personal secretary of then Transport Minister Jagdish Devara being an accused.

“The STF then named former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti and Raj Bhawan in its charge sheet. The charge sheet also mentioned Minister A, Minister B and M/S. Who were they?” the Congress leader questioned.

“The CBI did not investigate these and nor did it question any one of them,” he alleged.

The Congress leader said the central investigative agency also kept away from the then personal secretary of Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
