Centre has decided to grant permission for Research studies: TN Minister

ERODE: The Union Government has decided to grant permission to set up 12 centres to teach research studies in Tamil Nadu, School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan said here today. Speaking at a function here, he said, “The union government has decided to grant permission to set up 12 centres in Tamil Nadu to teach research-oriented studies on Atomic energy and other science subjects and only select candidates would be admitted.”

“We have requested the union government to grant more such centers at least one in each Assembly Segment,” he said. Later, the Minister distributed free lap-top to 2,286 students in the district.

“The state government’s ambition is to make Tamil Nadu the number one state in school education in the country, for which already more than Rs. 26,000 crore has been sanctioned in the state budget,” he said. He said 3,000 smart class rooms will be started in government schools in the state during the current academic year and it would be increased to 10,000 next year.

On the performance of students appearing for class 10, 12 board exams, the minister said approximately ten percent of them failed in some subjects.

To help such students who fail, special classes would be conducted in December, he said.

Besides, proper coaching will be given to students who have completed class 12 to appear for competitive exams held by the Centre, Sengottaiyan said.
