Centre extends mobile-Aadhar linking until 6 February

New Delhi: The SC will soon set up a Constitution Bench next week to hear interim pleas seeking a stay on mandatory linking Aadhar with services and schemes to avail the services and benefits of government schemes.

Centre on Thursday has told the apex court that it shall extend Aadhar linking deadline until 31 March next year.

However, the Attorney General K K Venugopal had said linking of Aadhaar with mobile services will only remain until 6 February next year in pursuance of the judicial order.

The Central government has previously made Aadhaar card mandatory for carrying out almost all the legal tasks in the country.

It has also made Aadhaar mandatory for obtaining benefits under the Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana (VPBY) pension scheme – a scheme meant for senior citizens reports Zee News.
