Centre gives final nod to Kaleshwaram

The Centre today gave its final clearance of environment for the Kaleshwaram project in Telangana State.

According to informed sources, the State Government has received a communication in this regard. With this, the related works of the project will be speeded up for completing it by next June. The project has already received permissions from Hydrological, Forest, Underground waters and Construction machinery and will irrigate North Telangana districts, including Karimnagar, Rajanna- Siricilla, Medak, Yadadri-Bhongir, Siddipet, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Sanga Reddy, Jagtial, Medchal, Kamareddy, Nirmal and Peddapally.

It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, during his recent visit to the project, instructed the officials to complete the works by working in three shifts besides warning them of action for any delay. The project earlier got permissions from Central Water Commission (CWC) inter-state (Maharashtra-Telangana). Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao asked the officials to speed up works in the wake of final clearance from the Centre. (NSS)
