Hyderabad: Union Minister Hansraj Ahir revealed, on Friday, that the Centre would try to get pensions for those who fought against the Nizam rule in Telangana. He told this while speaking at a party meeting held at the Telangana BJP headquarters where he felicitated a freedom fighter who fought against the Nizam, the erstwhile ruler of the princely State of Hyderabad.
He stated that some of those who fought against Nizam claim that they are intentionally kept aside. He stressed for a revised check for the eligibility to receive pension. He said that the State government should consider those aged above 85 for the pension.
The Minister of State for Home revealed that the matter has been referred to the State government which should get back on it after conducting an inquiry.
Meanwhile the Telangana unit of the BJP has started a campaign for official celebration of the merger day on September 17, when the Nizam-ruled Hyderabad State was merged with the Indian Union in 1948.
