CES 2019: AMD shows off 3rd-gen Ryzen desktop processor, to debut mid-year

Los Angeles: Chipmaker AMD unveiled its third-generation Ryzen desktop processor at the ongoing CES 2019 event in Los Angeles. The company President and CEO Lisa Su announced that the processor will launch in mid-2019.

The processor runs with the 7 nanometer Radeon VII GPU, Cnet reported. The company demoed the chip on Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 4 maintaining a consistent frame rate over 100 fps at 1,080p. The chip slightly outperformed rival Intel i9-9900K on Cinebench multicore test.

The system is positioned as the most advanced PC gaming hardware in the world. Pricing of the processor is yet to be announced while the Radeon VII will debut on February 7 for USD 700 and will be bundled with digital copies of Resident Evil 2, The Division 2 and Devil May Cry 5.
