Chandigarh: Pregnant couple thrashed by 6 people over monetary dispute

Chandigarh: A pregnant woman and her husband were beaten up after the couple asked about the monthly deposit for a chit fund committee, reports said.

The incident was reported from Hallomajra village on Wednesday were the pregnant couple were thrashed by six-person over the monthly instalment dispute, TOI reports.

The two months pregnant woman was rushed to GMCH-32 after the incident. She was advised to abort her child as she developed complications.
She is now discharged from the hospital.

The victim husband identified as Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Hallomajra filed a complaint against 6 people identified as Pancham Chauhan, Narender Rai, Narender Kumar, Ramesh Sharma and two others.

In his complaint against the six accused, Kumar said he had called Pancham Chauhan and asked him to deposit the monthly instalment of Rs 10,000 for chit fund committee but the accused asked him to see him at the shop of Narender Kumar in the area.

When Kumar reached the shop along with his wife Anita, all the six accused present in the shop started abusing them.

The accused made away with Rs 18,000 Kumar was carrying in his pocket and fled the scene after beating and injuring the couple.

They also threatened him with dire consequences if Kumar asked them money in the near future.

Injured Kumar later called up at the police emergency number and informed them about the incident. The PCR van reached the spot and took the injured couple to GMCH-32.

No case has been so far registered against the accused claimed Kumar.

Kumar also said he would approach higher authorities if the police failed to take action against the accused.

On the other hand, the police said they had been verifying the facts and a DDR had been registered in the case.

“We will register a case against all the accused after investigating the matter,” said the police.
