Chandrababu Naidu should be ‘ashamed’ for data theft, says KTR

Hyderabad: “Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should be ashamed of the data theft in the state,” Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president KT Rama Rao said on Monday.

Speaking to media, KTR, as he is popularly known, opined that if nothing wrong has been done by the Chandrababu Naidu-led government, they should not be afraid of the investigation being done in connection with the case.

“If nothing wrong was done by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his government why he is afraid of investigation? How can Andhra Pradesh government give voter list and Aadhar data to a private company which provides software and technical support to TDP? Hundred per cent this case will come under the jurisdiction of Telangana police,” he said.

KTR asserted that Telangana police is doing their duty perfectly in this case, adding, “Chandrababu’s cheap politics will not work out in this social media generation. KCR is not threatening anyone in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu is only trying to provoke people of Andhra and he has done nothing for the people of the state in the last 5 years. Chandrababu and (Nara) Lokesh should be ashamed of their state’s data theft and they should clarify on it.”

Meanwhile, TDP leader LankaDinakaran said data of party cadre was accessed only for official purposes.
“The data of TDP pertaining to the 60 lakhs cadre, who are effectively registered by means of party activist, is official data. We keep information of our party cadres and their families as a database because we are concerned about their issues. It is absolutely confidential data for only party use. They (Telangana government) carried out this data theft activity with the help of the police. It is a mockery of democracy. We also feel that Narendra Modi’s approval is also involved in this data theft. We have all the rights reserved of the data collected by Sevamitra. If anyone wants that information, prior permission is required from TDP,” he said.

Condemning the IT raids at the company that provides app services to Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Naidu had earlier said that his party will complain to the Election Commission of India on the issue.

“TDP data comprises the details of a welfare fund for party activists. Details of party activists’ insurance are also there in that data. That data is a result of 24 years of hard work of our party. Party data is our asset. It is an offence to steal it. There is data of 70 lakh workers and no government has the right to steal that data. We will complain to the Election Commission of India on the theft of our data,” Naidu had said while addressing a teleconference with party leaders, public representatives and booth conveners.
