Cheating, misappropriation of funds, four arrested

Hyderabad: Tukaram Gate Police arrested four employees including the Secretary of Secunderabad Deccan Club for cheating and misappropriation of funds. They were sent to jail.

DCP of North Zone Police, B. Sumathi informed that Mr. Avinash Gupta, President of Deccan Club lodged a complaint at Tukaram Gate Police Station in which he informed that during the annual auditing of accounts of the club, heavy misappropriation of amounts was detected.

Police took immediate action and started investigations. It was found that the Secretary of the Club, Mr. G. Ramesh Reddy along with three employees, namely; Aseem Kumar Maiti (32), Systems Administrator, Ms. V. Vanjulatha (Accountant) and V. Nagender (Former Treasurer) usurped Rs. 15 crore from the accounts of the club.

DCP further told that the Secretary was usurping lakhs of rupees from the funds of the club for the past three years.

Systems Administrator, Accountant and former Treasurer used to issue temporary receipts. These amounts were not deposited in the accounts of the club. During the investigation, police inspected bank accounts in detail which showed that lakhs of rupees have been invested in fixed deposits. Police arrested the accused and presented them in the court. The court sent them to jail.
