Chhattisgarh polls: 192 candidates in fray for first phase

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Saturday rolled out the final list of candidates contesting in the first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly elections.

The polling will take place on November 12.

As many as 192 candidates are in the fray for the first phase of polling in 18 constituencies.

On a closer look, 18 out 12 constituencies are located in the Naxal affected Bastar division and six are located in Rajnandgaon district.

According to the poll body, 38 candidates out of 231 have filed for withdrawal of the candidature.

As many as 30 candidates are contesting from Rajnandgaon constituency.

The schedule for filing the nominations for the second phase was started on Friday and will end on November 2.

The scrutiny of the candidature will take place on November 3.

November 5 has been set as the last day for withdrawal.

Voting for this phase will take place on November 20, while the counting of votes for both the phases will take place on December 11.
