Child Lifting Rumour: Hyderabadi Youth Mohammed Azam killed, 3 others injured in mob lynching

Hyderabad/Bidar: In another incident of mob lynching, a youth from Hyderabad was killed in Bidar District, Karnataka and his three companions got seriously injured.

This incident took place in the evening of Friday, 13th July when four friends were going from Hyderabad to Bidar.

Near Murki Village of Bidar District, a mob consisting of 100 villagers assaulted them suspecting them to be child lifters. A youth by name Mohammed Azam was killed on the spot whereas the other three who had managed to escape from the spot. However, they were seriously injured after residents of another village thrashed them. The injured persons have been admitted in a private hospital in Hyderabad where their condition is reported to be improving.

According to the report, Mohammed Azam along with his friends was going to Bidar. On their way, they stopped at Murki Village for taking tea and refreshment. They offered chocolates brought from Qatar to the children of the village. The villagers suspected them to be child lifters and attacked them.

When the other three persons managed to escape from the village, the local persons passed on a video to the residents of another village. The mob surrounded the car and thrashed them.

It was reported that a cop appealed to the mob not to beat them.

It may be mentioned that it is the third incident of mob lynching in Karnataka.

Police arrested 30 villagers. The persons who were injured were identified as Talha Ismail, Mohammed Salman and Mohammed Basher. Basher is the resident of Hyundaikar Village of Aurad Town, Bidar District. Basher works in Hyderabad. He had invited his friend to his house at Hyundaikar Village.

It may be mentioned that the incidents of mob lynching are on the increase in the country. In 14 separate incidents of mob lynching which occurred from May to July, 20 persons have been killed.

Mohammed Azam was a Software Engineer. He was the resident of Errakunta. His dead body was brought to Hyderabad. He was buried in the graveyard of Shaheen Nagar near Pahadi Shareef.
