China set to open first counter-terrorism college

Shaanxi (China): Days after passing controversial first counter-terrorism law, China is considering establishing its first counter-terrorism college in its northwest Shaanxi Province, where students will be offered undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

According to China Radio International, the college will also have doctoral students to foster highly specialised expertise in the counter-terrorism field.

Last month, China had adopted its first counter-terrorism law that granted overarching powers to security agencies and placed new restrictions on media while reporting on terrorism. (ANI)
