NEW DELHI: Indian Army on Sunday shares a video on Twitter accusing Chinese hackers of targeting users in India via social messenger application WhatsApp.
A video, tweeted by Indian Army’s official Twitter account- handled by the Army additional Directorate General Public Interface (ADGPI) department, shows how the Chinese hackers use “all kinds of platforms” including mobile platforms such as WhatsApp to penetrate “your digital world”.
The 1.10-minute video warns that “The Chinese use all kinds of platforms to penetrate your digital world. Whatsapp groups are a new way of hacking into your system. Chinese numbers starting with +86 barge into your groups and start extracting all the data.”
Advising to be “vigilant, careful” and urging to stay “safe”, the video advises Whatsapp users to be “vigilant, careful”, urging to stay “safe” and also to “start checking your groups, and do regular audits”.

“All contacts in the groups should be saved by names. Scrutinize unknown numbers constantly. If you change the mobile number, inform the group admin. Destroy the SIM card if you change the number and delete the Whatsapp on that number.
