China’s provocative actions on Western frontier

New Delhi: Two hostile neighbours of India, both Pakistan and China are moving close to each other and consider themselves as all-weather friends. China is helping Pakistan to build permanent bunkers on borders with Rajasthan and Gujarat.

What is worrying is that the stones used for construction of these bunkers are inconspicuous.

Already Pakistan has built 350 such dug-outs with the help of China and is building infrastructure close to Indian borders that are very strategic from security point of view.

The China has been constructing airports close to our borders, two of four have been completed and they are just 25 km away from the Ghotaru border in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district. The Chinese have been building another airport in Tharparkar, close to Rajasthan’s Barmer. This base too is about 25km from the Indian border.

Intelligence agencies report that several Chinese soldiers have been seen in Peerkamal and Cholistan, close to Jaisalmer.

India had already denounced the OBOR project and boycotted huge conclave in May in Beijing that was attended by 60 countries that have signed up to the Belt-and-Road project.

There are also inputs that Chinese are upgrading the airbases in Peshawar, Karachi, Quetta and Rawalpindi.
India has always been doubtful of Chinese intentions related to OBOR project. China is encircling India through construction of roads, airports, ports and other infrastructure in countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Srilanka and Pakistan to tackle India strategically. It is called String of pearls theory.
