HYDERABAD: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern meets Hyderabad-native Ahmed Iqbal Jahangir, who was among the people who were injured in horific mass shooting incidents at two New Zealand mosques on 15 March last month.
Donning a black headscarf, the Prime Minsiter greeted Ahmed with “Assalamu Alaikum,” and inquires about the best of his health details. Mohammed Khursheed, the victim’s elder brother is by his side in the hospital.
After receiving the gunshot in the chest, the 35-year-old man is being treated in a New Zealand hospital and is recovering from the injuries.
A residents of Amberpet in Hyderabad, Ahmed went to New Zealand 15 years ago where he runs a Hyderabadi food restaurant near Al Noor Mosquet in Christchurch.

The killer, who identified as 28-year-ild “Brenton Tarrant” from Australia, used a helmet-mounted camera to broadcast live video of the massacre on Facebook was previously charged with one murder as a holding measure, but police said Thursday that all the deaths and injuries at the Al Noor mosque and Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch will be reflected in upgraded charges during his next appearance.
The accused will face 50 murder charges when he appears in court on Friday. The court has now barred media from filming or photographing the accused.
