Citizens urged to plant saplings to protect environment

Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today exhorted every citizen to strive for protection of the environment.

           

Participating in a Haritha Haram program at Musheerabad Park here on Friday, the Minister exhorted the people to grow saplings with moral responsibility. Opining that there was a need to make the people to participate in eradication of pollution, the Minister said the students have to participate in the Haritha Haram program feeling it as a social program. BJP State president Dr K Laxman, GHMC officials also participated in the program along with the Minister.

           

In another program, Srinivas Yadav and BJP’s Amberpet MLA Kishan Reddy, local corporator Chaithanya Khanna Yadav and Constitution TRS party in-charge Edla Sudhakar Reddy planted saplings at Kachiguda Junior College. Students participated in a big way in the program and organized an exhibition on the occasion.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister said the Chief Minister designed the Haritha Haram program keeping in view the people’s troubles due to lack of rains. The tree plantation will protect environment and attract rains. The Police, HMDA, GHMC, Water Board and other departments were planting saplings taking the Haritha Haram program as a responsible one. He called upon the students to participate in the program in a big way.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy said there was urgent need to grow trees in a big way otherwise drought conditions will prevail due to lack of rains. He recalled that people of Hyderabad used to wear sweaters in winter season in the past but now the situation reversed and using ACs because of lack of trees.

GHMC Zonal Commissioner Sailaja, College Principal Suman Naik and others participated in the program. Later, the Minister planted a sapling at Children’s Home at Nimboli Adda. (NSS)
