Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy has directed the Town Planning and Engineering officials to take all necessary steps to clear footpath encroachments by July 7 and also to continue the drive every week as per the directions of MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao.
The Dy Commissioner and Asst City Planner concerned should create awareness about the footpath encroachment before the drive was conducted so that the people can voluntarily remove the encroachments well in advance. The Enforcement wing must take steps for marking the encroachments in the given stretch before the conduct of drive.
All the officers concerned of the area should be involved in the drive for convergence. The concerned ZC should ensure that the debris is lifted within 24 hours after the conduct of the special drive of encroachments and the concerned agency (GHMC, HRDC, HMRL) should start the laying renovation work within two days, said the Commissioner.
“The Zonal Commissioners must prepare an action plan for footpath encroachments well in advance. The footpath designs should be standardized. The Enforcement wing must prepare the list of repeated offenders to initiate action against them. The officials must take the encroachment in bylanes and also link the encroachments to the trade license provisions to initiate action against the offenders for cancelling the trade licenses. The Fire Safety Wing should monitor fire safety measures exit/rescue operations at Bars/Pubs/Educational Institutions/Restaurants and so on,” the Commissioner added. (NSS)
