Climate change affecting Bihar: Sushil Modi

New Delhi: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on Friday taht climate change would impact agriculture in the state.

Modi, who is also Forest and Environment Minister, said a mere increaee of 0.5 degree Celsius temperature will reduce wheat production by 0.45 tonne per hectare. “All of us have to think how to face the challenge of the climate change,” he said.

Modi said Bihar has been witnessing less than normal rainfall. According to him, ground water has been polluted in various parts of the state.

He said development at the cost of environment is not sustainable. “There should be a balance,” he added.
