CM holds TRSLP meet for MLC polls

Hyderabad: TRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today held TRS Legislature Party meeting at Telangana Bhavan here. He briefly informed the MLAs, who attended on the election process and voting for the MLCs.

The four MLC candidates of the TRS Mahamood Ali, Sheri Subhash Reddy, Sathyavati Rathod, E Mallesham and MIM candidate Mirza Riyaj Ul and the party MLAs attended the TRS legislature meeting.

The Chief Minister has conducted the mock polling for the upper house at the party head quarters here. KCR will hold the mock polling again on Tuesday at the same venue at 8 am before the actual polls begin in Assembly. After the mock poll, all the TRS MLAs will take a special bus arranged at Telangana Bhavan to reach the Assembly on March 12. They will participate in the voting process to elect the MLCs.

Speaking n the occasion KCR said that he will announce the names of MP candidates in two days or so. He instructed the MLAs to take the responsibility of winning 17 MP seats including one MP seat of the MIM party. The chief minister has informed that he will address two public meetings on behalf of the TRS in Karimnagar on March 17 and Nizamabad on March 19.

The TRS has fielded Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Seri Subhash Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod and Yegge Mallesham as its candidates for the MLC elections under MLAs quota. AIMIM candidate Mirza Riyaz ul Hasan Effendi also filed his nominations. The TRS is confident of winning all five MLC seats (including the MIM seat).

In addition to seven MIM MLAs, the TRS has a strength of 90 MLAs, including two independent legislators who joined the TRS recently, in the Assembly. Four Congress MLAs and one TDP MLA have already announced their decision to join the TRS, taking its tally to 102 MLA votes out of 119 MLAs leaving the Congress literally empty-handed.

With the schedule for Lok Sabha elections announced by the Election Commission, the TRSLP is also likely to discuss its preparations for the elections. The TRSLP meeting will also discuss the ongoing Parliamentary constituency-wise preparatory meetings being attended by party working president KT Rama Rao who will resume the second spell of meetings on March 13.

The Chief Minister is expected to give directions to the party MLAs on their responsibilities and strategies for the Parliamentary elections. He is learnt to be keen on getting a huge majority for the TRS MP candidates through consolidation of votes from all Assembly segments. He is also likely to give clarity on his public meetings. Chandrashekhar Rao, according to sources, is likely to announce the list of MP candidates in a couple of days.
