In the wake of the High Court passing strictures stalling GO on Vice-Chancellors’ appointment and Eamcet-2 leakage leaving a scar to the State government’s functioning, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today held a high-level review meeting at Camp office here.
The Chief Minister is understood to have prominently discussed on the High Court order against VCs appointments and further steps to possibly move Supreme Court and also shared his views on Eamcet-2 leakage. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy, Ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Vice Chancellors of various universities and officials attended the meeting.
Peeved at the Eamcet-2 leakage that got a blot on the government, the Chief Minister is learnt to have shared his views on further steps of either to scrap the examination or to pave way for the top rankers and innocent students to pursue medicine by seriously punishing those involved in the scam. The Chief Minister has reportedly discussed on protests by the students and their parents against the cancellation of the exam. He is said to have focused on High Court’s action of setting aside the GO and next possible steps of moving Supreme Court.
The State Government has apparently got headache over the scam report confirmed by the CID sleuths that showing an increase in the number of students indulged in malpractice to about 150 students from 25 to 30 students who have allegedly paid up to Rs 50 lakh to Rs 70 lakh for paper leakage. According to reports, investigation is to find whether Eamcet-1 was also leaked and the scam was not confined to just Telangana and spread to other States. It is understood to have discussed in the meeting on the immediate steps to strengthen the varsities and standards to be maintained.
Meanwhile, DGP Anurag Sharma on Friday called on the Chief Minister and submitted a report on Eamcet-2 leakage and irregularities involved. (NSS)
