Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the officials concerned to make use of MGNREGA funds for Telanganaku Harithaharam programme. CM said, that, an action plan has to be evolved, aiming at getting the work done, through agriculture labour for this programme, since at every stage right from nursery maintenance to plantation it is ultimately the human labour that counts mainly. He said a DPR has to be prepared for this.
The CM held a review meeting on Telanganaku Harithaharam programme at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday. Ministers KT Rama Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary SK Joshi, Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Vikas Raj, Commissioner Neetu Prasad, CM Secretary Smita Sabarwal, Special Secretary to CM Bhupal Reddy participated in the meeting. “Including the newly formed panchayats, there are a total of 12,751 Village Panchayaths in the State. Each village should be considered as a unit and in every unit nurseries are to be developed. Keeping ready the saplings in the nurseries, distributing them, digging the pits, plantation and watering them, all involves human labour.
There is a possibility to utilize the labour of agriculture labour. NREGA stipulates to take up employment generation programmes. Hence making use of NREGA funds for Telanganaku Harithaharam programme is beneficial both ways. An action plan should be evolved to make use of NREGA funds for Telanganaku Harithaharam and detailed project report has to be prepared. Estimates should also be worked out as to how much need to be spent for this” said the CM.
“The Greenery and the ecosystem that has been lost due to felling of trees and degeneration of forests should be brought back and the lost to be made up, lot of problems cropped up due to deforestation. Human life became problematic. Monkeys that were living on wild fruits migrated to villages and started damaging the crops. At times there are even entering into over kitchens and carrying out over food all this is due to loss of forest and trees. Forest rejuvenation has to take place through Telanganaku Harithaharam. Trees on a large scale have to come up in villages.
Priority and importance should be given for growing fruit bearing trees. 25% of the saplings shall be necessarily fruit bearing ones. Fruit bearing trees like Tuniki, Ellakai, Morri, Berry, Custard apple, guava etc are to be kept ready in large numbers for distribution since these are the trees on which monkeys and birds as well as other wild animals depends for their food. These are to be grown in surrounding forests, agriculture fields and empty places. This would prevent monkeys and other wild animals migrating to domestic areas. (NSS)
