Colleges, schools should take up green drive: Srihari

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today directed all schools and colleges of government and private to essentially take up massive plantation drive on their premises. The Deputy Chief Minister, who holds Education portfolio, has instructed the managements of the schools and colleges to ensure that the students are involved in the plantation program. Since the weather and meteorological department has predicted adequate rains this season, the flagship Haritha Haram program should be taken up in a big way to expand greenery.

Srihari also said Telangana Education department was determined to turn the schools into Haritha Schools by taking up massive plantation drive. “Create awareness among the students and children on the need for plantation drive and involve them to protect the saplings planted and it is duty of the head masters and teachers to monitor the same for survival to fight pollution. He also asked the managements of the schools and colleges to form Green Brigades to protect planted saplings 100 per cent. (NSS)
