Commercial complexes proposed on Waqf land

Hyderabad: In order to increase Waqf Board income, it has been proposed to allot the open land abutting Hajj House for development purpose. Waqf Board Chairman Mohammed Saleem told that it has been proposed to construct commercial complexes on Waqf land of Taskforce office at Begumpet and Waqf land located at Khairiatabad. A renowned architect of the city has been given the responsibility to prepare a plan. With the approval of the plan, the foundation of the complex will be laid. He informed that the union minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has assured to provide 90 pc grant from the centre in connection with the construction.

Mohammed Saleem, along with the Chief Executive Officer Shahnawaz Qasim, visited the open Waqf land abutting Hajj House. Waqf Board Chairman suggested that 18 shops can be constructed at the outward side of the open land on which hoardings could be put up. This will increase the Board income. He opined that no party will be ready to construct complex on open land as the complex would need a path leading to it.
