Irrigation Minister, T Harish Rao today directed the officials concerned to complete on a war-footing the pending works of Kalwakurty project under Nagarkurnool Assembly Segment by next rainy season. He instructed to provide irrigation waters to complete Ayacut in the segment.
Holding a high level review meeting on 29 and 30 packages of the project at Jala Saudha here the minister asked to replace the working agency if necessary for failing to speed up the works. The minister asked the officials to resolve 60 appeals made by people during MLA M Janardhan Reddy tour of Jala Vijaya Yatra to the segment. For a total of 4.25 lakh acres irrigated 1.25 lakh acres last year, 2 lakh acres this year. The officials informed to have filled up 280 lakes during 2016-17 and 350 lakes tanks this year including 120 lakes in Nagarkurnool segment. The minister asked to replace the working agency for not completing the works and entrust the works to others to complete by next rainy season along with distributor canals.
