Cong demands immediate release of arrested Kapu leader

New Delhi: Congress today demanded that the Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh must honour its commitment on Kapu reservation and also release arrested Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham and others immediately.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said the party fully supports the “just cause” of Kapu reservation and stands by the resolutions made by the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee on the issue.

“The AICC fully supports the just cause for Kapu reservation to BC and stands by the resolutions made by the APCC at Vijayawada for the cause.

“The TDP government must honour their commitment made in the manifesto and accelerate the reservation process. We also demand that the Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham and others arrested be released immediately,” said Singh in a statement.

Kapu leader and former minister Padmanabham, who began an indefinite fast at his residence at Kirlampudi village in East Godavari district yesterday, was arrested by CID sleuths in connection with the train burning incident at Tuni early this year.
