Congress to approach Court, EC, Centre to stop defections: Diggy

Shocked with defection of its legislators, the panicked Congress party has decided to approach the Court, Election Commission and the Centre to stop the defection malady as Anti-Defection law became ineffective.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, along with party leaders R C Kuntia, Koppula Raju, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, K Jana Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Mallu Ravi after the TPCC Coordination Committee meeting, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has to own the responsibility for the continuous political defections in the State. He alleged that KCR was giving huge contracts to the MLAs and MPs, who were joining his party. He said the MLAs and MPs were taking ‘politics as business’. He said the cadre was with the party and leaders were only deserting it for business interests.

Digvijaya said the Congress alone has bright future in the State as the TDP, YSRCP and BJP were ineffective. The party would stand by the people and wage war against the TRS government with regard to land acquisition. “The TRS government opened doors for corruption by escalating project estimates by two to three fold in irrigation projects. The Congress party will hold meetings with the irrigation experts and question the government’s escalation of projected estimations. The TRS government was acting like a ‘middleman’ instead of behaving like a government with regard to land acquisition from the farmers.

The government was also forcing the farmers to acquire lands by issuing G.O.No.123 at the cost of farmers’ interests. He said the Congress would stand by the Mallanna Sagar project victims and continue its fight till justice was done to them. He also said the party would discuss with the leaders who were criticizing each other openly and would take steps to maintain discipline. “The party doesn’t need any surgery because the cadre was with the party and only leaders were leaving the party with selfish motives”, he added.

TRS Implementing Centre’s Land Act

Party senior leader Koppula Raju alleged that the TRS government was implementing the policy of land acquisition what BJP government tried to make a law by issuing G.O.No.123 in the State. The Congress party brought a Land Acquisition Act in 2013 which provides several benefits to the land loser but the BJP-led Central government was seriously trying to introduce a new Act at the cost of farmers and farm labour. He said the Congress party waged war against the Centre and stalled the Bill to see that it will not be passed in Parliament. “But the TRS government in the State was implementing the same by issuing G.O. No. 123 and acquiring land at the cost of farmers and agriculture laborers”, he said.

Create New Dists thru’ Judicial Commission: Uttam

Demanding that the State government create new districts through Judicial Commission, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the party leaders were deserting the party only for the sake of business benefits. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was murdering the democracy in the state by encouraging defections in the state in the name of ‘Bangaru Telangana’. The Chief Minister was destroying the politics with low level politics in the state, he alleged and condemned the party leaders joined TRS today for the sake of business benefits. He said that the Congress party would defy the TRS government’s cheating of poor farmers. He said that the party would take up training camps to the party activists on several issues like G.O.No.123 and KBR Park issue. (NSS)
