Congress demands debate on SC categorisation

Hyderabad: The State Government today said it was ready to discuss at length in the Assembly on the SCs categorisation issue.

Minister for Legislative Affairs T. Harish Rao declared this in the Assembly on Monday while intervening during question hour urging the protesting Congress members to allow the House to complete the question hour as per the agenda. The Congress moved an adjournment motion demanding a discussion on SC categorisation. However, Speaker Madhusudana Chary called for taking up the question hour and asked the protesting Congress members to maintain calm and decorum.

When the Congress members continued to disturb the proceedings and persisted that the adjournment motion should be taken up, Harish Rao intervened and pointed out that as per the decision taken at the BAC, adjournment motions would be taken up at the discretion of the Speaker after the question hour. Hence, he appealed to the Congress members to stick to the decision of the BAC. He also pointed out that the State government was ready to discuss the matter at any time and even pass a resolution to be sent to the Centre. (NSS)
