Congress demands white paper on implementation of AP Re-organization Act

Leader of the Opposition in the Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir today said the State government has failed to get Central nod to the projects promised in AP Re-organization Act 2014. He also demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao discuss with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on these issues during his meeting with the latter on Friday.

Addressing the media at the CLP today along with Pongulati Sudhaker Reddy, MLC, he congratulated Sudhaker Reddy for approaching Supreme Court for Implementation of assurances mentioned in AP Reorganization Act 2014. It is surprise to note that the Union government in its affidavit mentioned that Bayyaram Steel plant was not viable. The issue was linked with sentiments of tribals in the area and agitations against the Center and the State have already begun in those areas.

He also questioned the State government as to why it kept silent on Tribal University, Railway Coach factory, 4000 MW power from NTPC, bifurcation of High Court, Steel factory at Bayyaram and other issues mentioned in the APR Act. Shabbir demanded that KCR announce Ramadan gift 12% Reservation to Muslims and 10% Reservation to tribals after his discussions with the PM as assured in the both the Houses of Parliament.

Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has demanded that the Centre implement AP Reorganization Act in true sprit. He also said the Center had announced Income Tax exemption to the notified areas for industries from 20% to 35% and demanded white paper on the Tax exemptions effective April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2020. He warned the State and Centre that there will be agitations for Steel factory at Bayyaram and merger of four villages of Badhrachalam Temple from AP to Telangana. (NSS)
