Congress to fight for 74 seats, spares 25 among allies, second list soon: Kuntia

Hyderabad: AICC Telangana Incharge RC Khuntia today said his party has decided to allocate 25 Assembly seats among other Mahakutami constituents viz. TDP, TJS and CPI and Telangana Inti Party.

Speaking to the media, Kuntia said, “We have decided to concede 25 Assembly seats among our alliance partners. Of these, 14 seats would be allotted to TDP, eight to TJS, three to CPI and one to Telangana Inti Party. The Congress would contest in the remaining seats,” he said after conclusion of the Congress Screening Committeee Meeting in New Delhi.

The meeting was chaired by AICC president Rahul Gandhi. He said they would release the first list of party candidates on November 10. “The first list will consist of the names of the 74 party candidates. The list of the remaining 20 candidates will be declared either on November 11 or November 12. The screening committee will meet on either dates and finalize the second list before its official release,” he said.

The Screening Committee meeting lasted for two hours. With the announcement of the total number of seats to be contested by the Congress party and the grand alliance partners, the day long suspense that has been hovering around the seat sharing issue has now come to an end.
